2017-18 Budget Presentation
"Pitt delivers an extraordinary return on the commonwealth’s investment. The value of a University of Pittsburgh education is heralded far beyond our state. For the 12th consecutive year, the Pittsburgh campus is ranked as the top value among all public colleges and universities in Pennsylvania by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. This nationwide ranking identifies four-year colleges and universities that offer students an outstanding education at a remarkable economic value. Pitt is highly ranked by U.S. News & World Report, the Princeton Review, and similar popular surveys of the higher education market. In their ranking of U.S. colleges and universities, The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education named Pitt the 'Top Public University in the Northeast.'" - Chancellor Patrick Gallagher, 2017-2018 Budget Presentation
Each year, the chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh submits a budget presentation to the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on behalf of the University. This presentation includes a statement from the chancellor, an overview of the impact Pitt has in the state and beyond, and a specific budget request with line item overviews. This presentation will be considered by the General Assembly as they prepare their own budget to present to the governor. When the budget is passed and signed by the governor, the University will resubmit its final budget reflecting any changes.
